About this walk
The Mount Pleasant Circular is a gentle 4.5 km loop through the wooded heart of the Delamere Forest area in Cheshire. Starting and finishing near Delamere and Oakmere, the route dips into Nettleford Wood before curving past the still waters of Black Lake, an atmospheric peat bog fringed by pine and birch.
With just 134 m of ascent spread across easy forest tracks, the walk suits families and anyone after a relaxed hour or so in the trees. The going is straightforward underfoot, and the mixed woodland provides shade in summer and a rich palette of colour in autumn.
If you have time to extend the outing, nearby Pale Heights and Hangingstone Hill offer some of the best views in Cheshire, taking in a sweep of countryside that reaches towards the Welsh hills on a clear day. Return to Delamere to finish, where the station makes a convenient car-free arrival and departure point.
