About this walk

The Millennium Mile is a gentle linear stroll through a quiet corner of Cheshire West and Chester, covering just over a mile of easy walking with barely any climb. It makes an ideal short outing, whether you are stretching your legs before lunch or looking for a relaxed afternoon amble.

The route takes in the tranquil Mill Pond, a lovely spot to pause and watch the water, before passing St Alban's Church, a familiar local landmark. The path then winds its way through to The Sportsmans Arms, a welcome place to rest at the end of the walk. Along the way you will catch glimpses of the surrounding Cheshire countryside, with hedgerows, mature trees and open sky overhead.

If you have time to extend your visit, several nearby points of interest are worth exploring, including Smithfields Pond, Jubilee Wood and Memorial Wood, as well as the quiet waters of Keys Brook. The Letters Inn offers another option for refreshments, rounding off a leisurely half hour on foot with something a little longer if the mood takes you.
