Manchester Green Trail 1

This linear route through east Manchester links a string of urban green spaces and quiet residential streets over 7.8 km, gaining a modest 63 m along the way. Starting near Ryder Brow station, the trail heads through Gorton, weaving between pockets of parkland and tree-lined paths that offer a surprisingly leafy way to cross this corner of the city.

As you walk, you pass close to local landmarks including Lees Street Congregational Church and Shalom Christian Church, with the Grove Inn marking a useful waypoint along the route. The path skirts the Belle Vue area, once one of Manchester's best-known entertainment districts, before continuing on towards the trail's end. Step-free for much of its length, the route is well suited to walkers looking for a moderate half-day outing.
