About this walk

Starting and finishing at Llantysilio, this circular route weaves together some of the most evocative corners of the Dee Valley. From St Tysilio's Church the path drops towards the River Dee, following its banks before climbing through the wooded slopes of Abbey Dingle and on to the hamlet of Geufron.

The middle section opens out with wider views across the valley, with Castell Dinas Brân's hilltop ruins visible to the east and the limestone escarpments rising above the Eglwyseg River. The route then descends towards Llangollen itself, passing the Llangollen Pavilion and the colourful narrowboats moored along the canal at Llangollen Moorings.

From the town the trail returns westwards along the Dee, with Velvet Hill and Fron Fawr framing the way back to Llantysilio. At a little over 9 km with 411 m of ascent, it is a satisfying half-day outing that combines riverside walking, woodland and breezy upland paths.
