About this walk

The Lisnaharney Public Right of Way is a short but sustained upland walk in the hills of County Tyrone, climbing steadily from Lisnaharney to finish at Barnesgee. Over 3.1 km the route gains around 185 m, giving open views across the surrounding countryside as the ground rises.

Setting out from Lisnaharney, the way heads into quiet farmland and rough grazing before the gradient begins in earnest. Eskaradooey Bridge lies nearby, a good landmark for orienting yourself in the network of small lanes and streams that thread this corner of Tyrone. As height is gained, the slopes of Dunbunrawer come into view, and the linear path leads on to its finish point at Barnesgee.

Because it is a linear route of about an hour one way, most walkers either arrange a pick-up at Barnesgee or simply retrace their steps downhill, which is quicker and easier on the legs. Sturdy footwear is sensible, as the going can be damp and uneven in places typical of upland Tyrone.
