Lime Avenue Ponds Walk

The Lime Avenue Ponds Walk is a gentle circular route through the parkland of the Lyme estate in Cheshire East, taking in stately architecture, quiet water and open moorland in just over three kilometres. Setting off near The Stables, the path leads you out into the wider parkland, where the ground rises steadily but never sharply.

From here the route climbs towards Reflection Lake, a still stretch of water that catches the sky and the surrounding trees, before opening out onto Park Moor. This higher ground gives long views across the estate and the Cheshire plain beyond. The return leg draws you back down towards Lyme Hall itself, the grand centrepiece of the estate.

Nearby you will pass or glimpse the estate's working heritage, including Chestnut Cottages and the Estate Workshops, The Pheasant House and The Kennels. Hampers Wood and Crow Wood flank parts of the wider parkland, adding shade and birdsong to the walk. With only 125 metres of ascent spread across the loop, it is an easy hour on foot with plenty to look at.
