About this walk

Starting and finishing in the small village of Ashwicken, this 7.5 km loop links two neighbouring west Norfolk parishes on quiet lanes and field-edge paths. From the village the route heads out towards the site of Leziate Church, a lost place of worship whose former grounds still lend a quiet atmosphere to the surrounding countryside.

The walk continues past the Leziate & Ashwicken Village Sign and into the hamlet of Leziate itself, before reaching All Saints Church, the surviving parish church that serves the area. From here the path drops into the Brand's Wood Conservation Area, a peaceful patch of mixed woodland that offers welcome shade and birdsong before you loop back to Ashwicken.

With only around 111 m of ascent spread over the route, the going is gentle rather than strenuous, though a moderate rating reflects the mix of tracks, lanes and woodland paths. Brickyard Lake nearby is a reminder that this quiet corner of Norfolk was long shaped by extraction and small industry as much as by farming.
