About this walk
The Killyfole Lough Nature Walk is a gentle circular route in the quiet drumlin country of south-east County Fermanagh, threading through farmland and lakeside habitat in just over two kilometres. Starting and finishing at Killyfole, the path is easy underfoot with only a modest 36 metres of ascent, making it a good choice for a short half-hour outing.
From the trailhead the route passes a traditional Turf House and a Vegetable Garden, small reminders of the working rural landscape, before opening out at Killyfole Lough itself. The lough is the centrepiece of the walk, its still water fringed by reeds and rushes typical of Fermanagh's small inland lakes.
Once you have completed the loop, there is more to explore nearby. Killylackey Lough sits close at hand for anyone wanting to extend the outing, and Saint Mark's, the Aghadrumsee Parish Church of Ireland, is also within easy reach for a look at the local built heritage.
