About this walk
This linear route through the Killerton estate in Devon links the main historic buildings with quieter parkland and woods. Starting near Killerton House and the Stable Block, the path passes Killerton Chapel before opening out into the Deer Park, with wide views across the estate's rolling grazing land.
From here the walk drops through Back Park towards the River Culm, which forms a peaceful boundary at the lower edge of the estate. The route then climbs gently into Park Wood, a mixed woodland that offers shade and birdsong, before returning through open Killerton Park to reach the Acland Memorial Cross set on higher ground.
At 3.4 km with 174 m of ascent, it is a moderate hour's outing that packs in house, chapel, deer park, river and woodland. Nearby features such as The Clump, Dolbury Hillfort, The Lost House, Columbjohn Wood and Cross Park make it easy to extend the day if you have time.
