About this walk
The Inisherk Trail is a gentle circular walk on the Crom estate in County Fermanagh, tracing a peaceful loop of around 2.7 km through woodland and lakeshore scenery on the shores of Upper Lough Erne. With modest ascent and easy going underfoot, it makes an ideal short outing of about three quarters of an hour.
From the start, the path leads into Inishrek Wood, where mature trees frame glimpses of the water, before rising gently to the Summer House, a fine spot to pause and take in the surroundings. The route then curves back to close the loop, returning you to where you began.
Crom is rich in things to see beyond the trail itself. Nearby you will find Crom Castle, the estate's old Ice House, and Holy Trinity (Crom Parish Church of Ireland), while the deer park viewing platform offers a chance to look out across the parkland. The Erne waterways are never far away, giving the whole walk a distinctly Fermanagh character of woods, water and quiet views.
