This 4.1 km circular walk begins at Ightham Mote, a moated manor tucked into a quiet wooded valley in the Kent Weald. From the house, the route climbs steadily away from the valley floor and into the trees, with around 239 m of ascent spread across the loop.
The path leads through Martin's Wood, a peaceful stretch of mixed woodland typical of this corner of Kent, before rising to Wilmot Hill. From the higher ground there are glimpses out across the surrounding countryside, with Scathes Wood lying nearby for those who want to extend their exploration. The descent then curves back down through woodland and field edges to return to Ightham Mote.
Allow around an hour and a quarter at a steady pace. The walk is rated moderate, mainly because of the climb rather than the distance, and it makes a satisfying half-day outing when combined with a visit to the manor itself.
