About this walk

This short circular trail loops through the Hucking Estate, a swathe of woodland and restored downland set high on the Kent Downs. From the start the path threads through Stubs Wood and Smokes Wood, where broadleaf trees give way to open glades and field edges, before passing the quieter stands of Bolton's Wood.

The clear highlight is the North Downs Way Viewpoint, where the route briefly joins the long-distance trail and opens out across the Weald. From here the path descends gently to Pudding Dane, a sheltered hollow that returns you through mixed woodland to the start.

Along the way you'll skirt other named compartments of the estate, including Forestall Wood, London Wood, Michael's Acre, Ten Acres and Chitt's Wood, each a small piece of the wider patchwork. At under four kilometres with modest ascent, it's an easy hour's walk that packs in plenty of variety.
