About this walk

This circular walk of just under 10 kilometres loops through one of the loveliest corners of the Central Chilterns, setting off from the picture-postcard village of Hambleden. The route climbs steadily through beech-clad slopes and open farmland, with a total ascent of a little over 300 metres spread across the outing, making for a moderate but rewarding half-day on foot.

From the village green, the trail passes the Stag and Huntsman inn and the flint-and-stone church of Saint Mary the Virgin before heading out along quiet lanes and field paths. The way threads past North Cot Wood and Henleyhill Wood, where the classic Chiltern mix of beech, ash and bluebell-carpeted floors comes into its own. A gentle descent leads to the hamlet of Pheasant's Hill, where the small United Reformed Church marks the turn back towards Hambleden.

Expect a mix of woodland tracks, chalky bridleways and short stretches of country lane, with wide views opening across the Hamble Brook valley as you return to the start.
