About this walk
This gentle 2.3 km walk in west Cornwall links the small village of Penponds with the hamlet of Roseworthy, following quiet lanes and paths through the softly rolling countryside between Camborne and Hayle. With only 41 metres of ascent and around half an hour on foot, it makes a pleasant leg-stretcher rather than a full day out.
From Penponds the route quickly leads to the Penponds Viaduct, the standout feature of the walk, striding above the valley on tall stone piers. Beyond the viaduct the path continues gently towards Roseworthy, with glimpses of the surrounding fields and hedged Cornish lanes.
Nearby points of interest add extra character if you want to extend your visit: the Barripper Stream and Praze Stream thread through the valleys close by, while Holy Trinity church and the curiously named hamlet of Merry Meeting sit within easy reach of the route.
