Gressenhall/Beetley Circular

This easy circular of around 5.8 km links the neighbouring Norfolk villages of Gressenhall and Beetley with a gentle wander through open country and quiet lanes. Setting off near Gressenhall Methodist Church, the route soon picks up field-edge paths with modest rises adding up to just under 60 metres of ascent, making it manageable in a little over an hour.

Along the way you pass the parish church of Saint Mary Magdalene, skirt the young woodland of New Plantation, and have the chance to pause at a Wildlife Garden tucked into the green spaces between the two villages. The walk threads close to Wendling Beck and the open access land at Hoe Rough, where mature trees and rough pasture give a real sense of the wider Wensum valley landscape.

Other nearby features include Rougholm and an axe throwing area, which sit close to the line of the walk if you fancy extending your visit. With its mixture of lanes, paths and quiet field edges, it is a relaxed taster of rural mid-Norfolk that suits families and casual walkers alike.
