This gentle 4.1 km circular from the village of Great Chart in Kent makes an easy hour's walk through the parkland and quiet countryside on the western edge of Ashford. Starting and finishing in the village, the route loops out into the wider Godinton estate before returning by a slightly different line, with only 84 m of ascent to contend with.
Along the way you'll skirt the grounds of Godinton House, a handsome country seat set within Godinton Park, and pass close to Lodge Wood and the curiously named New Chimneys. The path also brushes Repton Park Nature Reserve, adding a touch of woodland and wildlife interest to the open pasture and hedgerow scenery typical of this corner of Kent.
With a midway return through Great Chart itself, the walk is easy to break up and well suited to families or anyone looking for a short introduction to the countryside just outside Ashford. Underfoot conditions are straightforward, and the modest distance means there's plenty of time to linger and enjoy the views across the park.
