About this walk

This linear section of the Witton Weavers Way offers an easy introduction to the moorland edge of Lancashire, starting in North Turton and heading out across open country towards Dimple. Over roughly 5.6 km, the path climbs gently past Old Man's Hill, with modest ascent that rewards you with wide views over the West Pennine Moors.

The route follows Delph Brook down through pastureland and wooded cloughs, with Slate Brook and Stones Bank Brook threading the landscape nearby. Delph Reservoir sits close to the line of the walk, its still waters framed by rough grazing and the sweep of Longworth Moor beyond. Walmsley Unitarian Chapel, tucked into the hillside, is a quiet landmark of the area.

The walk finishes at Dimple on the edge of Egerton, an easy afternoon's outing that captures the character of Lancashire's weaving country: brooks, reservoirs and moor edge, all within a short stretch of well-trodden path.
