About this walk

This easy linear walk follows the towpath of the Fossdyke Navigation on the flat outskirts of Lincoln, tracing one of England's oldest working waterways through open Lincolnshire countryside. Starting near the River Till, the route sets off along the canal with wide skies overhead and moored narrowboats lining the bank.

You will pass Mick's A57 cafe, a handy stop for a brew, before the path settles into its rhythm past Woodcocks and Ferry Farm. The water is a constant companion, with reed-fringed edges, waterfowl and the occasional cruiser drifting by. The nearby developments at Burton Waters bring a touch of marina life, while the quieter fields around Burton Fen show the flat, agricultural character of the Trent Vale.

The walk finishes at The Pyewipe Inn, a well-placed canalside pub where you can rest before turning back or catching onward transport into Lincoln. At just over 4 km with barely any ascent, it is an ideal short outing for an easy afternoon by the water.
