Eyeries - Creha Quay Loop

This short circular walk from the colourful village of Eyeries traces a gentle loop along the northern shore of the Beara Peninsula, offering wide views across Coulagh Bay to the hills beyond. Setting out through Eyeriesbegga, the route follows quiet country lanes and coastal paths, with the Atlantic never far from view.

From Traanimod the way opens out towards Creha Quay, where the small stone pier gives a fine sense of the working coastline that shapes life on this stretch of West Cork. Passing through Causkeys, the return leg rolls gently back to the village, crossing pasture and hedged boreens typical of the Beara. Pallas Strand lies nearby if you fancy extending the outing with a sandy detour.

At 4.7 km with only modest climbing, the loop is well suited to a relaxed morning or afternoon. Eyeries itself, famed for its brightly painted houses, makes a cheerful start and finish point, with cafés and pubs to hand once the boots come off.
