About this walk
This gentle circular from Egham makes the most of Runnymede's water meadows and wooded slopes, packing several landmarks into a compact two miles. Starting near The King's Arms, the route heads out towards the open ground of Runnymede itself, where the River Thames spreads wide beneath Cooper's Hill.
The path climbs onto Cooper's Hill Slopes, a short pull that provides the walk's modest ascent and long views over the meadows. From here you drop down to the Magna Carta Monument, set on the ground traditionally associated with the sealing of the great charter in 1215. Nearby stand the Kennedy Memorial and, high on the hill, the Air Forces Memorial, both worth a brief detour.
The return leg loops past Langham's Pond, a quiet wetland tucked away from the busier riverside, before easing back through fields and hedgerows to Egham. It's an easy hour on foot, but one that stitches together some of Surrey's most storied ground.
