About this walk

This short but rewarding circuit begins in the village of Edale, tucked deep in Derbyshire's High Peak. Setting off past The Rambler Inn and the stone-built Holy Trinity church, the route soon reaches The Old Nags Head, long associated with walkers preparing to head out onto the moors above.

From here the path drops to follow the River Noe as it threads through pastures at the foot of the surrounding hills. You continue westward to Upper Booth Farm, a working hill farm set amid classic Peak District scenery, before looping back through quiet lanes and field paths. Look out for glimpses of Grinds Brook tumbling from the plateau above, the scree slopes known as The Tips, and the old stone shelter of Lands Barn.

The return leg brings you back into Edale past the little Methodist Chapel, closing the loop in the village centre. With 229 m of ascent packed into 5.6 km, it is a moderate outing that offers a real taste of the High Peak without demanding a full day on the tops.
