About this walk

Starting and finishing at Kempstone, this circular walk threads through a peaceful corner of rural Norfolk, passing mixed farmland, mature plantations and a string of small hamlets. The route heads out alongside Priory Belt and into Great Wood, where shaded tracks give way to open field edges with long views across the gently rolling countryside.

From the woods the path leads to Saint Andrew, the round-towered parish church that has long served East Lexham, before reaching the East Lexham Village Sign at the heart of the settlement. Continuing on, you pass Suttons and climb steadily up to High Green, the highest point on the loop, before turning back towards Kempstone through quiet lanes and field paths.

With around 91 m of ascent spread over four miles, it is a manageable half-day outing rather than a strenuous hike. Walkers with more time can extend the route to take in nearby New Covert and Carr Plantation, both within easy reach of the main loop.
