About this walk
This circular walk explores Dinas Island, a rugged headland on the Pembrokeshire coast that isn't quite an island but juts boldly into Cardigan Bay. Starting from the sheltered cove at Traeth Mawr, the route climbs onto the coast path and follows the cliffs around the peninsula, with the sea a constant companion.
The high ground of Dinas Head marks the northernmost point, offering sweeping views across the bay and back along the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. From here the path descends steadily on the far side, curling back through the small hamlet of Brynhenllan and the quiet inlet at Aber Gwyn before returning to sea level.
The finish drops you neatly at The Old Sailors, a welcome spot near the beach to rest tired legs. Though short at under 5 km, the ascent of over 400 m across the headland makes this a properly hilly outing, with plenty of stiles, steps and steep sections to keep it interesting.
