About this walk
The Dee Way offers a gentle riverside stroll through the quiet farmland east of Wrexham, following a short section of the mighty River Dee. Starting and finishing at Isycoed, this linear route covers just under 4 kilometres with barely any ascent, making it an ideal choice for an unhurried hour outdoors.
From Isycoed, the path leads you down towards the banks of the River Dee, where broad meanders slip through low-lying pasture and hedgerow. The going is easy and level, with open views across the water and the surrounding countryside. Crewe Gorse lies nearby, adding a patch of woodland character to this otherwise pastoral corner of the Welsh borders.
Being a linear walk, you retrace your steps back to Isycoed, giving a second look at the river from the opposite direction. The lack of climbs and short duration make it well suited to families, casual walkers, or anyone looking for a relaxed hour beside one of Wales' great rivers.
