About this walk
The Dee Valley Way runs for around 17 kilometres between Llantysilio and Corwen, threading through the wooded slopes and open hillsides above the River Dee in Denbighshire. From the start near St Tysilio's Church, the route climbs past the hamlet of Llandynan and Chapel Hebron, with the bulk of Moel Morfydd rising to the south.
Walkers pass the welcoming Sun Inn before the path rises through Coed Tir-llanerch, where woodland gives way to broader views across the valley towards the Berwyn range. A second waymarked stop at the Grouse Inn breaks the middle miles, and the trail continues over higher ground near Pen Coed Mawr and Coed Bwlch-coch.
The final descent brings you down to Corwen, with the Iron Age hillfort of Caer Drewyn standing sentinel above the town. With more than 700 metres of ascent over its length, this is a challenging linear day out, rewarded by some of the finest river-valley scenery in north east Wales.
