About this walk

This linear walk through Crocknagrally Forest in County Tyrone offers a moderate outing of just under 7 kilometres, climbing around 230 metres through mixed forestry and open upland country. Setting out from the Crocknagrally trailhead, the route rises steadily into the wooded hillside, with clearings that open up long views across the rolling Tyrone landscape.

Along the way, walkers pass close to the intriguing Cooneen Ghost House, a well-known local landmark whose lonely setting adds a certain atmosphere to the walk. The path continues through quiet forest tracks, with the small upland waters of Crockacleaven Lough and Glennoo Lough tucked into the folds of the hills nearby, and the modest summit of Crockacleaven rising to one side.

Expect a mix of firm forest road and rougher upland sections, with occasional muddy stretches after wet weather. As a linear route, you will need to either retrace your steps or arrange a pick-up at the far end, so it is worth planning your return before setting off.
