About this walk

This easy circular walk of 5.6 km takes in the quiet edges of Costessey, a village on the western fringe of Norwich. Starting near Our Lady and Saint Walstan, the route heads out into a gentle Norfolk landscape, with only modest ascent to ease you through the loop.

The path leads on past Green Hills before bringing you towards Saint Edmund and eventually returning via The Bush. Along the way you can detour to a string of attractive water features and viewpoints, including Heron Pond, Snipe Lake and Horseshoe Lake, while Carr's Hills add a touch of low relief to the surroundings. The Costessey Village Sign makes a fitting marker for the community at the heart of the walk.

With a total ascent of just 78 m and a comfortable pace of around an hour and a half, this is a relaxed outing well suited to a half-day visit, combining village character with pockets of pond and woodland scenery typical of this corner of Norfolk.
