About this walk
This linear stretch of the Clwydian Way sets out from the village of Cwm in Denbighshire, climbing steadily out of the valley and onto the higher ground that fringes the north Clwydian landscape. Early in the walk you pass Ffynnon Fael y Sulien and the Ffynnon Asa Spring, two of several old wells that dot this corner of the county, before the path opens out towards Bryniau.
From here the route works its way across quiet upland pasture, passing the ruin of Pant y Fachwen miner's cottage and the Henry Judd survey marker stone, small reminders of the area's industrial and cartographic past. There are wide views back towards Moel Hiraddug and the coast as you drop gradually towards the finish.
The final stretch brings you past the Eagle and Child Inn and the curious St Elmos Summer House before arriving in Llanasa, a tidy stone village that makes a natural end point. At 9.3 km with just over 300 m of ascent, it is a satisfying half day on foot with plenty to look at along the way.
