About this walk
Starting at Carburton on the eastern edge of Clumber Park, this gentle linear walk sets out towards the water and quickly opens up onto the long, curving shore of Clumber Lake. The path follows the lake for most of its length, with wide views across the water and glimpses of the mature parkland trees that Clumber is known for.
Beyond the lake, the route passes Boat House Plantation, a pocket of mixed woodland that softens the shoreline, before reaching Clumber Wetland where reedy margins and damp ground draw in birdlife. With only 57 metres of ascent spread over 3.4 kilometres, the going stays easy throughout and the walk can comfortably be done in around 45 minutes.
If you have time to linger, several nearby features are well worth adding on: the open sweep of the South Lawns, the quiet trees of Tank Wood, and the specimen conifers of the Pinetum are all close at hand, along with Edwinstowe Round and Andy's Gray Corner for a longer day in the park.
