About this walk

This linear route on the North Cornwall coast begins and ends at St. Eval, tracing a memorable stretch of the Atlantic cliffs between quiet farmland and open sea. The walk heads out to the Bedruthan Beach viewpoint, one of the most photographed spots on this coastline, where a line of dark sea stacks rises from the sand far below.

From the viewpoint you follow the cliff path down to Bedruthan Steps, a steep descent to the beach, before continuing north along the South West Coast Path to the sheltered inlet of Porth Mear Cove. The route passes close to the headland of Park Head and the earthwork remains of an Iron Age embankment, a reminder that these cliffs have been watched over for thousands of years.

The return leg retraces the coast path inland to St. Eval. At just under 5 km but with a stiff 337 m of ascent, expect steady climbs in and out of each cove, with wide sea views, wildflower-strewn clifftops and the sound of surf as your companions throughout.
