About this walk
This 7.2 km circular loops through the Dudmaston Estate in south Shropshire, climbing a modest 140 m over gently rolling parkland, woodland and field paths. Setting off, the route passes the Walled Garden before heading out across the estate towards The Unicorn, a well-known waypoint on the wider Dudmaston trails.
The middle stretch takes in the River and Rail section, where the path drops towards the water and follows the line of the estate's landscape features. There are opportunities to glimpse Wall Pool, Dudmaston Big Pool and Seggy Pool, three of the estate's pools that sit within the wooded parkland. Long Covert and The Paddock Railway lie a short detour away for anyone wishing to extend the outing.
The final leg swings back via St Andrew's, the estate church, before returning to the start. Allow around 1 hr 45 min at a steady pace. The going is moderate rather than strenuous, but a few short climbs and mixed surfaces mean sturdy footwear is a good idea, especially after wet weather.
