About this walk

This compact circular walk in the North Somerset countryside links four distinct landmarks in just over three kilometres, with a steady 187 metres of ascent to keep the legs busy. From the lower slopes you climb into Tickenham Hill Nature Reserve, where grassland and scrub open onto wide views across the Gordano Valley towards the Bristol Channel.

The route passes the Wynhol Viaduct before dipping into the shade of Baye's Wood, a quiet stretch of woodland that offers welcome cover on warmer days. The path then rises to the walk's centrepiece, Cadbury Camp, an Iron Age hillfort crowning the ridge above Tickenham. Its earthwork ramparts are still clearly defined, and the summit is a fine spot to pause and take in the panorama.

Returning downhill completes the loop in about an hour. With Westpark Wood, Tickenham Mill Weir and the hamlet of Clapton Wick all close by, there is plenty of scope to extend the day, or to combine the walk with a wander through the village of Tickenham itself.
