About this walk

This gentle circuit through the Burlingham Estate woodlands in the Norfolk Broads takes in a network of quiet paths linking a series of small woods and open field edges. Setting off near the church of Saint Edmund King and Martyr, the route heads out through Farrow's Wood, where the Cernunnos sculpture, a striking wooden carving of the horned figure, marks one of several artworks dotted along the trail.

Continuing on, the path drifts through mixed broadleaf plantations that put on a fine show of bluebells in spring, before reaching Hare Fen Wood. The going is mostly easy underfoot, with modest undulations rather than any real climbs, and waymarking around the estate makes navigation straightforward.

A well-earned stop at the Kingfisher Tearoom rounds off the loop nicely. Nearby, you can seek out the Tree Sitters carvings, the Iceni Horse and Jubilee Wood, all part of the wider estate that has been recognised with a CPRE Norfolk Award. Acle railway station sits a short distance away, making the walk straightforward to reach without a car.
