About this walk
This gentle linear walk links the village of Bridge of Earn with the historic settlement of Abernethy, running for 7.6 km through the low-lying farmland and woodland of southern Perth and Kinross. With just 27 metres of ascent, it makes for a relaxed half-day outing between two communities that sit close to the confluence of the Earn and Tay.
Leaving Bridge of Earn, the route heads east past Carey Stank and on through Oudenarde Community Woodland, a pleasant stretch of local woods that offers shade and birdsong before the fields open out again. The path continues towards Abernethy, passing the Cyprus Inn on the approach into the village and arriving at the Abernethy Garden Feature.
Abernethy itself rewards a wander at the end of the walk. Close by you will find the striking Abernethy Round Tower, the Mercat Cross and War Memorial, and a memorial to three local women accused of witchcraft in 1662, along with the site of Ballomill. It is an atmospheric finish to an easy, historically rich route.
