About this walk

The Brenig Way threads across the open moorland of the Denbigh Moors in Conwy, linking a remarkable cluster of prehistoric monuments with the shores of Llyn Brenig. Over 6.3 km and around 174 m of ascent, it makes a steady, moderate outing of roughly 1 hour 45 minutes, suitable for walkers who enjoy big skies and quiet ground underfoot.

From the start the route takes in the Nant Criafolen Hut Circle (Brenig 48), the kerb cairn known as Brenig 46, and the cairn at Brenig 14, each a reminder of the long human presence on these uplands. The path then drops towards Aber Berbo and climbs over Bryn Copog before opening out above Llyn Brenig itself, with the reservoir spreading wide below.

The walk finishes at the Llyn Brenig Visitor Centre Cafe, a welcome place to rest. Those with time to explore further will find more to see nearby, including the Brenig Mesolithic Settlement, the stone circle at Brenig 8, the Brenig Lake Barrows (Brenig 41) and the platform cairn Brenig 51.
