Bluebell Walk at Standen

This short linear walk winds through the wooded landscape around Standen in West Sussex, taking in a sequence of quiet woodlands that come alive with bluebells in spring. Starting near the Dragon waypoint, the path leads into Hollybush Wood before opening out towards Standen itself, set in the gentle countryside on the northern fringe of the High Weald.

From Standen, the route continues through Rockingshill Wood and finishes at Jenkin's Wood, following easy paths with only modest ascent. The mixed broadleaf woodland provides dappled shade in summer and a carpet of colour in late April and early May, when bluebells emerge beneath the fresh canopy.

The surrounding area offers plenty to extend a day out. Weir Wood Reservoir lies close by, along with the upper reaches of the River Medway, and further pockets of woodland including Pond Wood, Jenhurst Shaw and Ash Wood spread across the local landscape. At roughly 3.4 km with 91 m of ascent, the walk suits an easy hour on foot.
