About this walk
The Blue Trail is a gentle 3.5 km circuit through the wooded demesne of Florence Court, one of County Fermanagh's great country estates. Starting near Florence Court House, the path winds down into Garden Wood and follows the banks of the Larganess River, where mossy trees and dappled light give the walk a quietly enchanted feel.
Along the way you pass Lady's Well, a small holy well tucked into the landscape, before reaching the celebrated Florence Court Irish Yew. This ancient tree is famed as the parent of every Irish yew in the world, all propagated from cuttings taken here. The route then loops back through the Pleasure Grounds, the ornamental gardens laid out to complement the mansion.
With only around 108 metres of ascent and comfortable underfoot conditions, the walk suits families and casual strollers. Allow about an hour, and leave time afterwards to explore the wider estate, including the Mill Pond, Mill Race, and neighbouring Gorteen and Srahack Woods on the fringes of Florencecourt village.
