Blue Parkland Estate Walk, Melford Hall

This short circular walk begins in the centre of Long Melford, one of Suffolk's most attractive villages, and heads into the parkland surrounding Melford Hall. In just a couple of kilometres you get a gentle taste of estate landscape, with mature trees, open pasture and quiet paths that feel a world away from the village high street.

The route passes Long Plantation and the Hare Drift Plantations, weaving through the wider Melford Park before looping back. Along the way there are glimpses of Melford Hall itself, and it is easy to extend the visit with a stop at the Old Kitchen Cafe. Nearby you will also find The Hare sculpture, the medieval church of Holy Trinity, and the Long Melford Village Sign, all worth a few extra minutes on foot.

With only around 30 metres of ascent and a total distance of 2 km, this is a relaxed half-hour outing suitable for most walkers. It works well as a gentle leg-stretch after arriving by bus or train to nearby Sudbury, or as an easy add-on to a longer day exploring Long Melford.
