About this walk
The Blakeshall Trail is a compact circular walk on the Worcestershire side of Kinver Edge, starting and finishing in the village of Wolverley. At roughly 4 km with 161 metres of ascent, it packs a satisfying amount of climb and descent into little over an hour, making it a rewarding half-morning outing from a single base.
From Wolverley the route heads out into the wooded sandstone country that gives this corner of the West Midlands its distinctive character, looping back through the village at the midway point before completing the circuit. The paths thread through mixed woodland and heathy ridges typical of the Kinver Edge escarpment, with glimpses out across the surrounding countryside as you climb.
Close by lies Nanny's Rock, one of the well-known sandstone outcrops along Kinver Edge that has been hollowed and shaped over the centuries. It makes an easy add-on for walkers who want to extend the day and see more of the soft red rock formations that define this remarkable ridge.
