About this walk

The Black Grouse route is a short, easy linear walk starting in the village of Llandegla in Denbighshire. At just under 4 km with a gentle 126 m of ascent, it offers a manageable hour on foot through the kind of mixed forest and moorland edge that defines this corner of north east Wales.

From Llandegla the path heads out towards Pendinas Reservoir, a quiet sheet of water that makes a natural focal point early in the walk. Beyond the reservoir the route passes a bird hide, a good excuse to pause and scan the water and surrounding trees for wildlife. The trail then continues through to One Planet Adventure, the well known forest activity centre that marks the end of this linear outing.

It is a straightforward introduction to the Llandegla forest landscape, suitable for families and anyone wanting a short walk with a clear start and finish. As a linear route you will need to plan your return, either by retracing your steps or arranging onward transport from One Planet Adventure back to the village.
