About this walk

This easy linear route on the Gower Peninsula begins in the village of Bishopston, near The Beaufort Arms, and follows the wooded Bishopston Valley south towards the coast. At just under 4 km with modest ascent, it makes a relaxed half-day outing, with the pub at the start offering an obvious meeting point before you set off.

The path threads through the sheltered valley, shaded by broadleaf woodland and accompanied by the small stream that has carved this narrow gorge into the limestone. It is a quiet, enclosed landscape, quite different from Gower's more famous open cliff tops, and a good spot for birdsong and wildflowers in the warmer months.

The walk emerges at Pwlldu Bay, one of the peninsula's most secluded coves. Backed by a high pebble bank and framed by limestone headlands, it is a fine place to pause before retracing your steps back up the valley to Bishopston. Nearby St Teilo's church, the Gower Hotel and The Joiners give you further options for a drink or a look around the village.
