About this walk
Starting in the village of Kinnesswood on the eastern side of Loch Leven, this 8.7 km circular route climbs steadily onto Bishop Hill, one of the distinctive summits of the Lomond Hills. Leaving the village near the War Memorial, the path rises above the rooftops with wide views opening out across the loch and the fields of Kinross-shire below.
The ascent picks up alongside Glen Burn before reaching the broad, grassy plateau of Bishop Hill, where the trig point rewards the effort with a sweeping panorama. From the top, the route drops northwards into Glen Vale, a quiet glen cutting between the hills, then swings around past Glenlomond on the way down.
A gentle finish carries you through the hamlet of Easter Balgedie and along quiet lanes back to Kinnesswood. With around 372 metres of ascent packed into roughly two and a half hours, it is a satisfying half day on the hill without being overly demanding.
