About this walk
Bigod's Way offers an easy half-day ramble through the quiet countryside of south Norfolk, tracing a linear route of 5.7 km with modest ascent. Setting off from the Queens Head, the path soon draws you out into open farmland and hedgerow-lined lanes, with the River Waveney providing a peaceful companion as it marks the border between Norfolk and Suffolk.
The going is gentle throughout, making this a good choice for a relaxed morning or afternoon. Along the way you can pause at Chainbridge Beck, admire the flint tower of All Saints Church, and take a closer look at the Ditchingham with Pirnough Village Sign, a charming reminder of local identity.
The walk finishes in Ditchingham, where Grumpy's Cafe makes a welcome stop for a cup of tea, and the village Book Exchange is worth a browse before you head home. With just under 100 m of ascent spread over three and a half miles, it is a genuinely easy outing that still delivers the classic Waveney Valley scenery.
