About this walk

This linear walk on the eastern tip of the Isle of Wight climbs from the coast up onto the airy chalk ridge of Bembridge Down and Culver Down, rewarding a modest effort with expansive sea views. Setting off past Steyne Wood, the route threads through the mixed woodland of Centurions Copse and Northland Copse before the ground begins to tilt upward.

The pull up onto Bembridge Down is the main effort of the day, but the top delivers, with the Yarborough Monument standing prominently on the skyline and the Solent stretching away on almost every side. From here you can drop in at The Wonky Cafe for a well-earned break before continuing past Bembridge School Chapel to finish the trail.

Around 8 km in length with roughly 234 m of ascent, this is a moderate half-day outing that combines sheltered woodland paths with breezy open downland. Nearby, walkers can extend their exploration to Gander Down, Brading Sea Wall, the River Yar, The Duck Pond and Coleman's Copse.
