Belton Park Walk, Belton House

This easy circular walk explores the parkland of Belton House, a National Trust estate on the edge of Grantham in Lincolnshire. Starting from the visitor area, the route heads out across gentle pasture and mature woodland, passing West Towthorpe Hollow Pond before climbing very gently to the Alford Memorial, which sits on a rise with wide views across the estate.

From there the path drops down into Old Wood, a shaded stretch of established broadleaf trees that feels a world away from the surrounding farmland. Looping back through the parkland you can detour to the Ice House, the Gothic Sham Castle and a string of ornamental ponds including Boathouse Pond, Villa Pond and Tar Lane Pond, all scattered discreetly among the trees.

The walk finishes back near the Ride Play Café, a welcome stop for a coffee or lunch before heading home. At just over five kilometres with only 58 metres of ascent, it's a relaxed half-day out that suits families, and the wider Belton Estate provides plenty of reasons to linger.
