Bath Skyline Walk

Beginning near Saint Mary's Bathwick on the eastern edge of the city, this 4.5 km route climbs steadily onto the wooded slopes that form Bath's natural amphitheatre. The path threads through Rainbow Wood before entering the quieter greenery of Freefields Wood, where the noise of the city fades and the trail settles into a rhythm of dappled light and broadleaf canopy.

From here the route continues through Long Wood and Larch Wood, with occasional clearings offering long views across the Avon valley towards the honey-coloured terraces of the city. Along the way, curious features such as the Old Manor Farm Grotto, a cascade, and the ornamental Serpentine and Upper Lakes lie within easy reach, alongside the striking Pump House Chimney standing as a reminder of the area's industrial past.

With around 223 m of ascent packed into a short distance, the walk earns its moderate rating, but the reward is a finish high on Claverton Down, one of the finest vantage points above Bath.
