Aylsham Town Circular

This gentle circuit sets out from the centre of Aylsham, a handsome Norfolk market town tucked into the valley of the River Bure on the northern edge of the Broads. The walk threads out through quiet lanes and field-edge paths, with only modest climbs adding up across the route, making it a steady half-day outing rather than a strenuous hike.

From the town the way heads out towards Frog Hall, passing the kind of mixed farmland, hedgerows and small wooded corners that characterise this corner of north Norfolk. Wide skies, gently rolling arable land and the occasional glimpse of a church tower set the tone, before paths loop back through open countryside towards Aylsham.

The return brings you back into the town to finish, with its market place and tea rooms a welcome reward. At 8.4 km with 67 m of ascent, it is a comfortable moderate walk suited to most reasonably fit walkers, and easily tackled in an afternoon.
