Arlington Court deer park circular walk, Arlington Court

This 5 km circular loops through the parkland and wooded valley surrounding Arlington Court in north Devon. Setting out with a steady rhythm of climbs and descents, the route gathers around 259 m of ascent across its length, making it a comfortable half day out at a moderate pace of around an hour and a half.

The path drops down to cross Tucker's Bridge before winding on to Wilderness Pond, a tranquil sheet of water tucked among the trees. From here the route curves back past Arlington Court itself, with views over the estate, before following the River Yeo along the valley floor. Expect a mix of woodland tracks, parkland grass and riverside paths, with the chance of spotting deer and waterbirds along the way.

The gentle undulations, the pond and the river make this a varied and rewarding introduction to the wider Arlington estate, and the circular layout means you finish back where you started without retracing your steps.
