About this walk
Starting and finishing in the small Cheshire village of Antrobus, this 8.4 km loop weaves through quiet lanes, farmland and estate country on the fringes of the Arley Hall estate. The route heads out past The Fish Garden and the New Westage Ice Cream Farm, a welcome stop for a scoop before or after the walk, then continues along field paths towards Great Budworth.
At the heart of Great Budworth you pass the church of Saint Mary and All Saints, whose sandstone tower rises above one of Cheshire's most photogenic villages. From here the route turns north through Budworth Heath Covert and back across gently rolling farmland to Antrobus. Along the way you skirt features associated with the Arley estate, with views towards Arley Hall itself and woodland pockets such as Dairy Wood, Moat Covert and The Belts.
With only 86 metres of ascent spread over the loop, this is an easy-going moderate walk that packs in a lot of classic Cheshire scenery in around two hours.
