About this walk
The Albana Walk is a gentle circular route through the western reaches of the Ickworth Estate in Suffolk, covering 2.6 km in around 45 minutes. Despite its modest length, it packs in a surprising 124 m of ascent, so expect a few soft climbs as you weave between open parkland and mature woodland.
The path leads you into Albana Wood, a peaceful stretch of trees that gives the walk its name, before opening out onto the rolling pasture of Ickworth Park. Along the way you'll catch glimpses of neighbouring Dairy Wood and Twist Wood, with the tower of Saint Mary's Church appearing across the estate.
Back at the start, there's plenty to linger for. Porter's Cafe is well placed for a post-walk coffee and cake, while the West Wing Restaurant offers something more substantial if you've earned it on the hills.
